  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice About 1 lime, juiced.
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Method

Prepare the Watermelon
  1. Cut the watermelon into quarters and remove the rind. Cube the flesh into smaller pieces, ensuring there are no seeds.
  2. Measure out 4 cups of cubed watermelon and place it into the blender.
Blend the Ingredients
  1. Add 1 cup of cold water to the blender with the watermelon. This will help blend the watermelon smoothly.
  2. Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and no chunks remain.
Strain the Mixture
  1. Place a fine mesh strainer over a pitcher. Pour the blended watermelon mixture through the strainer to remove any pulp.
  2. Use a ladle to help push the liquid through if necessary. Discard the pulp left in the strainer.
Add Flavorings
  1. Stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, 2 tablespoons of agave syrup (or honey), and ¼ teaspoon of salt into the strained watermelon juice.
  2. Taste the agua fresca and adjust sweetness or acidity as desired by adding more lime juice or sweetener.
Serve

  2. Garnish with lime slices or mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor.
