Method
Prepare the Rice
- Cook rice according to package instructions. Set aside to cool slightly.
Cook the Beef Mixture
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 5 minutes to combine flavors.
- Remove from heat and stir in half of the shredded cheese.
Prepare the Peppers
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Place them upright in a baking dish.
Stuff the Peppers
- Spoon the beef and rice mixture into each bell pepper, packing it down gently.
- In a separate bowl, mix the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, and sugar. Pour this sauce over the stuffed peppers.
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top of the stuffed peppers.
Bake the Peppers
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious stuffed peppers!

Notes
Feel free to customize the stuffing by adding vegetables or using different types of meat. You can also top with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for added flavor.
