Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together 2.25 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 0.5 teaspoon of salt.
- In another bowl, cream together 0.75 cup of softened unsalted butter with 0.5 cup of granulated sugar and 0.5 cup of packed brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate 2 large eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 0.5 cup of milk into the butter-sugar mixture.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together 0.5 cup of brown sugar, 1.5 tablespoons of ground cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter for the cinnamon swirl.
- Swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter using a knife or spatula.
- Place your pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the bars cool, beat together 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and enough milk until smooth.
- Once the bars are completely cool, spread the icing generously over the top.
