Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter a baking dish.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cardamom, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until combined.
- Combine bread cubes and diced pears in the baking dish and pour custard mixture over them. Let soak for 15 minutes.
- Drizzle melted butter on top, then bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and set.
Caramel Sauce
- Melt the granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium heat without stirring until it becomes a rich amber color.
- Whisk in the butter until melted, then slowly add heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Add orange zest, orange juice, and a pinch of salt, simmering for a minute.
Serving
- Serve the warm bread pudding with a generous drizzle of warm orange caramel sauce on top.
