Method
Prepare the Zucchini
- Wash the zucchini thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
- Using a sharp knife, slice the zucchini into thin rounds, about ⅛ inch thick. This thickness ensures they become crispy in the air fryer.
- Place the sliced zucchini on a paper towel and sprinkle lightly with salt. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture. This step is crucial for achieving crispy chips.
Season the Zucchini
- After 10 minutes, pat the zucchini slices dry with another paper towel to remove excess moisture and salt.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dried zucchini slices with olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Toss gently to ensure all slices are evenly coated.
- If using, add the grated parmesan cheese and toss again until the zucchini slices are well coated.
Air Fry the Zucchini Chips
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. Preheating helps achieve a crispy texture.
- Arrange the zucchini slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Air fry the zucchini slices for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning. They should be golden brown and crispy.
Serve
- Once cooked, remove the zucchini chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a couple of minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
- Serve immediately as a snack or side dish. Enjoy your healthy air fryer zucchini chips!
